Inspiration - Week 13

"Every artist was first an amateur."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

We all start somewhere.....

Inspiration - Week 13

This time of year inspires me. People seem to care about others just a little bit more. Almost every little town has some sign saying something to the effect of "Seasons Greetings." It makes me smile and think of some small town every time. Holiday music and movies everywhere almost always have happy endings and its just comforting.

Inspiration - Week 12

"No elderly person I've ever spoken to has ever regretted a risk they have taken, they have only regretted risks they have not taken."

-Reid Meloy, one of the welcoming people who allowed me to interview him for my final project in photography.

Inspiration - Week 12

"What you prepare for is what you get."
-Laura Riley, one of the welcoming people who invited me into her home for an interview for my final project in photography.

Inspiration-Week 11

I attended a Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass) Holocaust Commemoration today. A Holocaust survivor was displeased with the commemoration and vented to me for a short time after. He did not know how or who to express him self. I could tell that he has spend his whole life trying to understand something that will never be understood by him, or anyone truly. It was heartbreaking and I had no idea what to say. My short interaction looking into his eyes and hearing the pain in his voice was a reminder for me to appreciate everything and to not be bothered by the stupid little things that are blown out of proportion in the days of my life and the lives of the people around me.

Life is a fragile, precious, gift. This is important to remember.

His inability to escape negatively lead to commemoration and positivity for me. Speaking to him for one minute meant more to me than did the two hour ceremony....

Inspiration-Week 10

To know what people really think, pay regard to what they do, rather than what they say.
-Rene Descartes

This speaks for itself.

Inspiration-Week 7

This is inspirational for me because it shows how someone can create something beautiful out of a sight that is common. Then, the artist allows his hard work to be swept away by the rain and only have photos, like this one as evidence that his work existed. I guess that's life.

Inspiration-Week 7

This is part of a lesson in my human philosophy class. It is "inspirational"for me because it is logical proof that God exists.

Cosmological Argument

Developed by St. Aquinas
  • Premise 1: every effect must have a cause
  • Premise 2: either there has been an “infinite regress” of causation throughout time, or there was a first cause of the entire chain
  • Premise 3: An infinite regress defines logical comprehension
  • Conclusion: therefore there must be a first cause of all things-god

Inspiration- Week 6

"I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man with no feet."
-Unknown

A reminder to be grateful for all of the blessings in our lives.
Especially the little things that we take for granted.

....you are beautiful.

Inspiration-Week 6

"You can only know reality through experience."
-Aristotle

I think this quote is relevant to everyday life for everyone. To me, it says that experience and reasoning (being in and thinking about reality) build upon the things we know, which is knowledge. I like it.
